Intro
Groq is a crypto payment platform designed to help freelancers and businesses seamlessly receive and spend cryptocurrency both online and offline.
As the co-founder and designer, I led the UX design for Groq, focusing on the platform’s design direction, interface, and user flow. I ensured the product was intuitive for crypto newcomers and collaborated with product and engineering teams to align design with technical capabilities and business goals.
Deliverables:
Problem
Getting paid in crypto should feel empowering but for many, it still feels like a gamble. Freelancers and remote workers across emerging markets are increasingly being paid in crypto because it’s fast and borderless.
But once the money lands in their wallet, the experience breaks down. Receiving payments across networks is confusing, converting crypto to cash is clunky, and one small mistake can mean losing everything
The Interface
From tracking past transactions to receiving crypto with a single scan, the app focuses on what truly matters. No clutter just a clear view of users funds and seamless ways to manage them. I also built in smart framing, like network-specific warnings, to prevent users from losing funds to simple mistakes. The goal? To make crypto-to-fiat conversion as safe and intuitive as any mobile banking app.
Takeways
Most of our users were not crypto experts, so every design choice focused on providing a fast, safe way to get paid and convert money, with subtle micro-interactions, thoughtful aesthetics, and close collaboration with developers ensuring a seamless and delightful experience.
